Common Questions
Answers to what patients often Ask.
What is robotic surgery?
Robotic surgery uses precision instruments controlled by your surgeon through a console. It allows for smaller incisions, less blood loss, reduced pain, and faster recovery compared to traditional open surgery. Your surgeon is fully in control, with the robotic system enhancing precision and visibility.
What insurance plans do you accept?
We accept most major insurance plans. Please contact our office and we will verify your specific coverage before your visit.
How do I prepare for my initial consultation?
Bring a complete list of your medications, your past medical and surgical history, and any imaging or records from referring physicians. Registration forms are available on our Patient Resources page to complete beforehand.
Which hospitals do you operate at?
Our surgeons hold privileges at six hospitals across the San Antonio area: Methodist Main, St. Luke’s Baptist, San Antonio Medical Center Surgical Center, Methodist Westover Hills, Baptist Westover Hills, and Boerne Ambulatory Surgery Center.
What should I expect on the day of surgery?
Detailed pre-operative instructions are provided well before your procedure date. These cover everything from when to stop eating and drinking to which medications to pause. General pre-op information lives on our Patient Resources page.
How long is recovery after robotic surgery?
Recovery varies by procedure. Most patients return to light activity within days and full activity within a few weeks. Robotic surgery typically allows significantly faster recovery than traditional open surgery.
